By F.F. Bosworth

"The Lord is gracious and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works"
(Psa. 145: 8,9)

In the scriptures, "compassion" and
"mercy" mean the same.  To have compassion is to love tenderly, to pity, to show mercy, to be full of eager yearning, with (con) passion.

The text above begins with "the Lord is gracious and full of compassion."  These sentiments concerning the nature of God are expressed over and over throughout the Scriptures.  God is not anything so much as He is Love.  Nothing will inspire faith more than knowing the truth of God's present love and compassion towards His creation. It is not what God can do, but what we know He yearns to do, that inspires faith.

By showing His compassion everywhere in the healing of the sick, Jesus unveiled the compassionate heart of God to the people, and the multitudes came to him for help.

Modern theology magnifies the power of God more than it magnifies His compassion;  His power more than it does the great fact that "the exceeding greatness of His power (is) towards us."  But the Bible reverses this, and magnifies His willingness to use His power more than the power itself.

Because God is love, it is not faith in God's power that secures His blessings, but faith in His love and in His willingness. The word "willing" comes short of expressing God's merciful attitude towards us.  "He delights in mercy" (Mic 7:18). His willingness is more fully expressed in ll Chron. 16:9, "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is blameless towards Him."
This scripture shows our Lord as not only being willing but eager to pour His blessings in great profusion upon all who make it possible for Him to do so. Those who know and believe that He is merciful and full of compassion.
God is always looking for opportunities to gratify His benevolent heart, because "He delights in mercy."

In the gospels we read about the compassion that moved Christ to heal the leper. "A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed.  "If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean," he said.  Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him.  "I am willing," He said.  "Be healed!"  Instantly the leprosy disappeared and the man was healed.  As a result, large crowds soon surrounded Jesus. (Mark 1:40-45).

Elsewhere we see the compassion of Jesus. "And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed Him.  And, behold, two blind men sitting by the road.  When they heard that Jesus was coming that way, they began shouting, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" "Be quiet!" the crowd yelled at them.  But they only shouted louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us! "When Jesus heard them, He stopped and called, "What do you want me to do for you?"  "Lord", they said, "we want to see!"  Jesus moved with compassion for them touched their eyes and instantly they could see!  Then they followed Him.  (Mat 20:29-34).

Jesus is still saying, as He did to the two blind men, "what do you want me to do for you?"

Jesus, in John 14:12 and 13, taught and promised that the same mercy and compassion could reach the people through our prayers while He is our High Priest in Heaven.  In fact, His departure was to open the way for His compassion to be manifested on a much larger scale.  Isaiah prophesied of Him, "Therefore will He be exalted that He may have mercy...."  Jesus said,  "It is expedient (profitable) for you that I go away."  This could not be true if His going away would withdraw, or even lessen, the manifestation of His compassion in healing the sick.

In His substitutionary work for us Jesus anticipated every possible need of Adam's race, and opened the way for mercy to reach every phase of human need.  He was then, and is now moved with compassion toward all who need His presence as "Provider, Peace, Victory, Shepherd, righteousness, and Physician."

Doubting or ignoring His love and compassion grieves the heart of Jesus.  Most think today healing and miracles are to show God's power, they seldom think of the gifts of healing and miracles as being the manifestation of Christ's compassion; and that, hour after hour, and day after day, for three years, He healed all who came to Him because of His compassion

Bodily healing is a mercy which Christ, who was and is the expression of the Father's will, gave to all who came to Him and all who will come to Him now....

JESUS CHRIST THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER!!!

"THE LORD IS PLENTEOUS IN MERCY UNTO ALL THAT CALL UPON HIM" BECAUSE HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER"; AND IS FROM EVERLASTING TO EVERLASTING";  HE IS "FULL OF MERCY" OVER ALL HIS WORKS."

 HEALING OF BELL PALSY...

I CAME TO THE HEALING ROOM TO SUPPORT A FRIEND WHO HAD PREVIOUSLY VISITED.  NEVER HAD BEEN, IT WAS MUCH TO MY CURIOSITY.

MY FRIEND ASKED IF I WOULD LIKE PRAYER.  OF COURSE, I ANSWERED.  I WATCHED A VIDEO TO WHICH TOUCHED MY HEART IN UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF PRAYER AND HEALING.  I HAD MUCH TO THINK ABOUT... I STRUGGLED WITH SO MANY AVENUES OF MY LIFE.  FROM MARRIAGE, PARENTHOOD, HEALTH, WEIGHT, VISION AND JUST GOD'S WILL TO NAME A FEW.  BUT THE THING THAT WAS HINDERING MY DAILY LIFE THE MOST WAS MY BELLS PALSY.

THE LEFT SIDE OF MY FACE HURT AND WAS NUMB.  THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN ACHED, MY LEFT EYE NEVER TEARED, AND MY LEFT NOSTRIL WAS ALWAYS RUNNY, AND THE LEFT SIDE OF MY TONGUE WAS NUMB.  DURING PRAYER I FELT ALL THOSE SYMPTOMS DRAINING FROM THE TOP OF MY HEAD DOWN AND RELEASING OUT OF MY FEET.  THE MOST VISIBLE WAS THAT TEARS FROM MY LEFT EYE RAN DOWN MY FACE. NEVER WAS I ABLE TO TEAR IN THAT EYE SINCE 2002.  I FELT HEALED...NOW TWO MONTHS LATER...I'M STILL HEALED!!!!
