Top Korean Doctor Dedicates His Life to Investigating Medical Miracles

Dan Wooding (June 20, 2011)

"We have uncovered many testimonies of how the power of God has healed patients and when doctors hear this kind of news, they become curious. They want to know if it's true or just a story that someone has made up." -Dr. Joonha Hwang

(Brisbane, Australia) - Dr. Joonha Hwang, a top South Korean doctor who graduated from medical school in his homeland, has a medical license as well as a PhD in Neurophysiology, has revealed why he believes in spiritual healing. In an interview during the 8th Annual Christian Medical Conference held in Brisbane, Australia, he said that he has given up his medical practice to dedicate his life to investigating miracles that cannot be explained medically.
Dr. Hwang, who is vice-president of the World Christian Doctors Network (WCDN), based in Seoul, South Korea, said that it is important that medical data be examined about claimed miracles as quite often medical people are skeptical about whether they are real or not. (Photo: Dr. Joonha Hwang, ANS)
"We have uncovered many testimonies of how the power of God has healed patients and when doctors hear this kind of news, they become curious," he said. "They want to know if it's true or just a story that someone has made up. That is why we put on these 'Spirituality and Medicine' conferences each year and then present medical data before and after the patient got prayed for. As far as I know, we at WCDN, are the only Christian medical organization that invites doctors to come and hear from other doctors and are then able to openly discuss the evidence of divine healing."
Why was Australia chosen for the latest conference?
"Australia," replied Dr. Hwang, "is a very westernized and secular country with what we first thought were just a few doctors who were interested in divine healing. At first, we were actually worried about inviting Australian doctors because, as I said, it is so westernized and very secular, but we are pleased to say that we found some very good Christian doctors here who are interested, in fact very enthusiastic, about using the power of God in medicine. So I am very happy about that."
I then asked him what he would say to doctors who do not believe in divine healing and do not believe that God can heal.
"I want to say, please come to one of our WCDN conferences and you can see for yourself, the evidence of divine healing backed up with clear medical data and then you can ask any questions about your doubts or curiosity, and you will become convicted that God is working now just as He worked in the past in the Bible period."

Researchers Find Huge Health Benefits in the Christian Faith

Teresa Neumann (May 2, 2011)

"One study even found that religious attendance was associated with a more than 90 percent reduction in meningococcal disease (meningitis and septicemia), in teenagers, a protection at least as good as meningococcal vaccination."

A new report from Christian Medical Fellowship says those who believe in God not only live a healthier life but also add 14 years to their life.
The report, entitled "Health Benefits of Christian Faith" by Drs. Alex Bunn and David Randall, reads, "In contrast to the popular myth that Christian faith is bad for health, on balance, and despite its limitations, the published research suggests that faith is associated with longer life and a wide range of health benefits. In particular, faith is associated with improved mental health."
According to the report, the mental health benefits for Believers include: "well-being, happiness and life satisfaction; hope and optimism; purpose and meaning in life; higher self-esteem; better adaptation to bereavement; greater social support and less loneliness; lower rates of depression and faster recovery from depression; lower rates of suicide and fewer positive attitudes towards suicide; less anxiety; less psychosis and fewer psychotic tendencies; lower rates of alcohol and drug abuse; less delinquency and criminal activity; greater marital stability and satisfaction."
"One study even found that religious attendance was associated with a more than 90 percent reduction in meningococcal disease (meningitis and septicemia), in teenagers, a protection at least as good as meningococcal vaccination. Furthermore, religious involvement has been associated with improved adherence to medication."
